It’s actually a treatment model in which virtually all soft tissue injuries, or musculoskeletal complaints, are viewed through 1 or more of the 6 different types of alterations to the body’s connective tissues.

The patient’s verbal and physical descriptions, coupled with the mechanism of injury and relevant orthopedic tests, will lead the practitioner to the proper form of soft tissue treatment.

And for this reason, no other soft tissue approach can reproduce the outcomes repetitively across the board as well as we can!

DAVIDPROD4313.jpg

A computerized measurement system that captures mobility and strength in all movement planes. These values are compared to reference values matched to a patient's age, gender, height, and weight. This allows us to track progress in strength and range of motion of the spine. An individualized exercise program is generated based on these measurements. With the test results from the David machines we can tell our patients how far they are from normal strength. We retest strength and range of motion at set intervals. We can objectively prove the gains our patients are making in strength with our testing reports. Your doctor or your insurance company will also like seeing your progress. Specially designed devices with joint specific isolation and loading curves guarantee a safe and pain free training experience while a cloud based, state-of-the-art computer based visualization system motivates the patient and collects all relevant data automatically for easy reporting.

Have you heard of Graston? What about Gua Sha? Some call it ASTM. What all these treatments have in common is that they are tool-assisted soft tissue mobilization. At Muscle IQ we use a special unique tool to help us perform treatments on tight or painful tissues that are preventing normal motion and strength. The history behind these techniques goes all the way back to China hundreds of years ago. Here in the U.S. this tool-assisted manual therapy treatment became more common in the 1980's, and early 1990's. When applied appropriately, this treatment technique can be an effective way to release what feels like adhesions in the fascia, improve circulation to the area, and decrease pain.

At Muscle IQ Physical Therapy in Provo, we call this tool assisted manual therapy scraping.  This treatment fits nicely into the Fascial Distortion Model as an effective treatment for specific fascia problems, especially in the back and extremities.
